I’m not your typical personal trainer.  That’s because I know how it feels to exercise when you are carrying a lot of extra weight, feeling self-conscious, unsure and hopeless. It’s not easy, and it takes a lot of courage. And it’s hard to do it alone.

I can help you with that.

WHAT MAKES ME DIFFERENT

I am a coach, cheerleader and teammate all in one, and if you choose to work with me, you’ll get deeply personalized sessions designed to challenge your body and mind as a functional unit.  This type of training builds a foundation of strength and endurance to let you move easily and gracefully through your life – and still have the energy to go out dancing all night long.

MY PHILOSOPHY

Being fit is not about the number on the scale or the size of your jeans. You can be a size zero and still get winded walking up a flight of stairs. True fitness is all about being strong, healthy and confident in the body you have right now. It is the ability to live every day with energy and enthusiasm, and to be an active participant in your own life instead of sitting on the sidelines.

When you’re fit, you feel great no matter what.  Increasing your fitness level will make you feel stronger both physically and emotionally, which breeds confidence and self esteem.  Simply put, fitness looks fabulous on every body.

Once upon a time, I was a dedicated couch potato, corporate desk jockey, and addicted to sugar & processed foods.  My weight struggles started in my early teens and despite frequent diets and exercise regimens, I never managed to lose weight and keep it off.  I kept telling myself that as soon as I lost the weight, I could do all the things I wanted to do…until one day I realized that I was 42 years old, was very overweight, and felt sick, tired and dejected most of the time.  And I wasn’t getting any younger.  It was time to take action.

Since 2009, I’ve lost nearly 100 pounds and changed my entire approach to health, nutrition and fitness, completing two triathlons, a duathlon and most recently a half-marathon.  I’ve traveled to many strange & wonderful cities in every corner of the globe, and been able to explore them on foot or on a bike instead of behind the wheel of a car.  My health profile has changed dramatically – blood pressure, blood sugar, resting heart rate, cholesterol – all of my numbers have dropped into healthy ranges and I have more energy and confidence than I ever thought possible. I am finally a full participant in my own life, and it feels amazing.

In 2011, I decided it was time to pay it forward.  I completed my Personal Fitness Trainer certification with AFAA so I could share my experiences and expertise with others like myself.  In 2013 I became a Certified Weight Coach. Seeing my clients succeed with their own personal goals brings me great joy and I look forward to each session as an opportunity to help someone else obtain the health and vitality I’ve found.
